DO I NEED TO BE IN SHAPE TO JOIN?

Absolutely not! Here at Modern we cater to all experience levels from NO EXPERIENCE to professional fighters! Don’t wait to get in shape to start your program, start TODAY and be on your way to a healthier, happier, and more confident version of you! Our friendly environment helps everyone stay motivated and having fun while getting great workouts. Our veteran instructors are there to guide you every step of the way so that you can learn at your own pace!

Martial arts is perfect for men and women of ALL ages! Giving an outlet to learn a new skill, implement a healthier lifestyle, and learn self-defense in the process. While our school is great for anyone looking to compete, we know that not everyone is looking to fight- and that is OK! Whatever your reason to be on the mats might be, everyone is welcomed and encouraged to take up martial arts!

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE FOR ME TO GET GOOD?

Everyone learns at different speeds and that is one of the many reasons we love this sport. You will rapidly notice an increase in your skill and fitness levels after just a few classes! Having goals is a great thing and a great motivator, however all that you need to do is show up and work hard- the rest simply falls into place. Our coaches are hands on and give every student the attention they deserve.

I’VE NEVER DONE ANY MARTIAL ARTS BEFORE, WHAT CLASSES DO I TAKE AND DO I HAVE TO FIGHT?

Again, no experience is NO PROBLEM! Every single class is structured so that everyone can participate. The best way to figure out what classes to take is to try them all! Everyone has different goals and different preferences, and with our memberships you have the option to utilize any class you’d like.

Nobody is ever required to fight, compete, or even spar in class! It is our mission to maintain an environment where everyone feels comfortable and never intimidated. Our “No Egos Allowed” policy makes the family energy and exciting workouts the highlight of your week! Only those who have shown the appropriate skill level and desire to contact-train are permitted to do so.

IS IT SAFE FOR CHILDREN?

YES! We have kids ages 5-12 and all different levels of experience. Some kids choose to compete while others are there for strictly self-defense and discipline purposes. The techniques we show follow the rules deemed appropriate for kids competitions nationwide. Your kids will experience sore muscles due to workouts and possible bumps and bruises, but we trust our coaches experience and their knowledge to know what is/is not dangerous positions or techniques.
